Buddy and Pat
Hello fellow fisherman!
The spring season is here! Wow, there are some big fish outside in the deep blue sea.
The bull and sandbar sharks are along the ledges feeding on middle food chain species like kingfish, bonito, and cobia, which we are now targeting.
The kings are up to 30-pounds, and the cobia are average size.
Except yesterday Matt caught a 60-pounder.
Buddy caught a mutton about 9-pounds the other day on a wreck. Nice fish Buddy!
Brian and Michelle, caught lots of fish with their twins up the ICW. It was a nice variety of fish on light spin tackle.
Ray, had a 20-plus pound jack, a bonito, and so many lost mystery fish while wreck fishing. I suspect the fish were cobia, snapper, and cobia being gobbled down by goliath grouper and bull sharks. We were out gunned with 60-pound braid on the mainline. Nice boat Ray! We better start bringing the big rods.
To summarize, the ICW is good for light spin and fly tackle.
KIng fishing has been inconsistent, even though some fish are smoker size. Snapper fishing is doable.
Sharks are the targeted monsters, as well as the goliath grouper. African pompano, amberjack, and cobia are available when we can pull them away from the apex predators.
Good luck! -----------<*///><
